If you and our Navigation team think it’s right for you, they might refer you for one-to-one, longer-term support from a recovery worker.

Your recovery worker will help you work towards your goals – whether that’s overcoming anxiety, finding the right housing, combatting loneliness, or anything else that supports your mental health.

Recovery workers are people who understand mental health struggles and are willing to listen. They will get to know you and work with you to help you build the life you want.

Who can use the service?

Anyone over 18 and living in Tower Hamlets.

What kind of support is it?

We offer both emotional and practical support.

We can listen to you when you need to talk. Together, we can explore your strengths and skills, and those of your family, friends and community. We can help you make a plan to reach recovery and independence.

We can also help with tasks like making applications and complaints or filling in forms. We can go with you to activities, or help you get your point across at appointments. It’s up to you – we’ll work with you to see what you need and how best we can help.

Is it therapy?

We aren’t therapists, but we can help you access therapy services from the NHS, charities, and other services.

Where does it happen?

Almost anywhere. You can come to us at Mind Open House or the Brady Arts Centre. Or your recovery worker can come to you – to your home, a local library or coffee shop, a community centre or even your favourite park. We can also help over the phone.

Getting better support from the NHS

We can help you explain your needs to your GP or your mental health team or consultants.

How long does the support last?

Depending on your needs, your recovery worker might be able to support you for up to 12 months.

What if I can’t make my appointment?

If you need to cancel, even at the last minute, that’s fine – there’s no penalty. Just give us a call on 0207 510 1081.

If you’re struggling to attend appointments, we can look at meeting you at easier places and times, or even switch to phone or email support. We work with what you need.
