At MindTHNR, one of our goals is to reach into “seldom heard” communities which experience challenges, disadvantage and lack of access to mental health support and services.

In Tower Hamlets, we’re working to engage with Muslim women, particularly those who don’t access other forms of support.

Working with the community

We’re committed to providing accessible, culturally appropriate services for the diverse communities in the boroughs we work in.

Our model of in-reach, access and engagement enables women who haven’t accessed mental health services to raise their voices about what matters to them the most. We collaborate with local Mosques, community groups, organisations and individuals. Much of the Sakinah Project has been led and delivered by Muslim women from the communities it serves.

Safe spaces and peer support

We currently run two drop-in sessions per week where women can connect with others and share their struggles in a safe space. Learn more about support groups for Muslim Women.

Building resilience

In collaboration with the community, we have produced a programme of mental health awareness workshops, incorporating faith and culture.  We support local Muslim women to share and learn from each other about mental health and wellbeing and to coproduce their own faith-based wellbeing toolkit.
